

He enjoys golfing, biking, lifting weights, watching movies with Jill, date nights and game nights. He spends so much time looking after others, you’ll rarely find him alone. Brothers not only look after your own interests but the interests of others as well.’” Serving both groups, Bill uses one mindset, “There is a list of life verses I have, but the big one I’ve been focusing on the past few years is Philippians 2: 3-4, ‘Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but with humility consider others better than yourself. Bill’s theory is: there’s always room for a group of people to gather and have fun. Family Activities and the Singles Ministry have a lot in common. But a classmate worked in the College Ministry at Central and the next thing he knew, a new path emerged. In 2009 that job was eliminated by budget cuts and Bill found himself an unemployed seminary student. If sports are a part of your life, Jesus wants to be a part of that.” He cares about how you play, how you walk on a daily basis, so sports is a part of that. Sports and Jesus was a new twist to his old job and Bill loved it. He married Jill, the vibrant woman he met at a country and western dance hall.“ Jill and I went to high school together for four years and NEVER met,” he remembers.īill settled into the new job God spoke to him about at Houston First Baptist. And it fell into place exactly as He said.”ĭuring the years his career path was changing, Bill made one thing permanent. He said when and where it was going to happen and all that stuff. “The Lord spoke to me in a dream and said I would be a recreation minister. It was time for more change in Bill’s sports career track. He loved what he was doing, but not necessarily where he was doing it. Later, Bill moved into municipal Recreation for Missouri City, TX. Bill applied at a YMCA and got started in sports and recreation. So I realized that dream wasn’t going to happen,” Bill recalls.

And then I was working at a TV station and realized I have a face for radio and a voice for newspaper. That dream took this Houstonian out of his hometown to study journalism at Texas A&M. So instead of dreaming to be a pro-athlete he started to dream about being the person who told you about the pro-athletes. I am good at some things in sports,” Bill jokes. “I am a decent athlete but I'm not great at any of them. But the athletic dream had to be tweaked along the way. Bill was passionate about sports and wanted nothing more than to live and breathe it. He learned statistics of games quickly and even as a child he would correct the TV announcers. For 2017 he will be continuing to compete within the SCCA as a competitor in the Formula Continental and F2000 classes.Bill Wise Family Activities & Singles MinisterĪs soon as he could talk, Bill talked about sports. Racing has become so much more than simply driving laps and with the help of Champion Spark Plugs he will be able to continue to enjoy that passion. More importantly, it has given him the opportunity to travel, make new friends, and garner experiences that otherwise wouldn't be possible. The on track competition has pushed him to keep improving and to keep pushing his own limits, not only the car's. His achievements include podium finishes in SCCA Majors races, the 2013 Great Lakes Challenge championship, and 2 lap records.

In 2011 he made the move up to the Formula Continental (F2000) class where he continues to race today. The next couple years saw him travel around within the neighboring Sports Car Club of America regions racing in Formula Vee and Formula First. In his first season he took the FV championship.

He then got his road racing license at the age of 24 with the Waterford Hill Road Racing association and began racing a Formula Vee. The culmination of that being five Top 10 finishes in his final five competitions. Through 5 seasons of FSAE experience he gained design, fabrication, and driving skills. From that moment on it became an addiction.Įarly competition included the collegiate program Formula SAE. It wasn't until college that he got his first opportunity to drive a racing car. Bill Wise first discovered motorsports in high school about the same time he first got his driver's license.
